Nonagon Geometry
Nonagon #1

Reading the 3x3 bigram square from left to right, top to bottom, the top three bigrams (white, purple and blue) are connected to each other by three lines on the nonagon arrangement forming an isosceles triangle. When the second set of three bigrams (green, grey and yellow) are connected in a similar manner, a second isosceles triangle is formed. The last set (orange, red and black) also forms a third isosceles triangle. Copying and inverting this set of three triangles and then combining all six triangles produces the design on the far right.
Nonagon #2

Now reading the 3x3 square from top to bottom instead, the left column of three bigrams (white, green and orange) are connected to each other by three lines on the nonagon arrangement forming an equilateral triangle. When the second vertical set of three bigrams (purple, grey and red) are connected in a similar manner, a second equilateral triangle is formed. The last set (blue, yellow and black) also forms a third equilateral triangle. Copying and inverting this set of three triangles and then combining all six triangles produces the design on the far right.
